Rembrandt Group Limited was established in Johannesburg in the 1940′s by Dr Anton Rupert. Remgro Limited was later established as an investment holding company, after the restructuring of the former Rembrandt. Remgro represented Rembrandt’s established interests in tobacco, financial services, mining and industry, while the telecommunication and technology interests were accommodated in VenFin Limited.
